Who we are
Townshend Performance is a running and cycling coaching business run by Brennan and Kat Townshend, based in Keswick, Cumbria, UK. We are responsible for the personal information described here. For any question about your data, or to use any of the rights below, email info@townshendperformance.com or call +44 7913 181128.
What we collect and why
- When you contact us. Your name, email address, phone number and anything you choose to tell us in the form, such as your age, running background, goals and current training. We use it to reply and to recommend the right coaching or plan option. We rely on our legitimate interest in answering your enquiry, and on taking steps you have asked for before you sign up.
- Training tips emails. If you tick the box on the contact form, we add your email address to our training tips mailing list. We do this only with your consent, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email or by asking us.
- Coaching and training plans. To write and adjust your training we use the details from your questionnaire and conversations with us, plus the session data you share through TrainingPeaks, such as pace, heart rate, distance and how sessions felt. We need this to provide the service you have bought.
- Injury and health information. If you tell us about an injury, illness or other health matter, we use it only to plan and adapt your training safely. This is more sensitive information, so we use it only with your explicit consent, which you give by sharing it. You can choose not to share it, though that may limit what we can safely advise.
- Payments. Coaching, plans and shop orders are paid through Stripe. Stripe processes your card details, so we never see or store your full card number. We receive your name, email address, what you bought and, for shop orders, your delivery address.
- Athlete results and reviews. If we feature your result, photo or words on this site or our social media, we do so with your permission and usually use your first name only. Ask us at any time and we will take it down.
- Using this website. We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site and Google Ads to measure our adverts. These collect information such as the pages you visit, how you arrived, your device and browser, and an approximate location. See the cookies section below.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We share it only with the services we use to run the business, and only as far as each one needs it:
- Netlify hosts this website and receives contact form submissions.
- Stripe processes payments.
- TrainingPeaks holds your training plan and session data while we coach you.
- Google provides Google Analytics, Google Ads and the web fonts used on this site.
- Email and WhatsApp carry our messages with you when you contact us that way.
- Professional advisers such as our accountant, where needed to run the business, or anyone we are legally required to share information with.
Some of these providers store data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, they protect it with safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK–US data bridge or standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
If you get in touch but don’t go on to train with us, we delete your enquiry within 12 months. If you are a coaching or plan athlete, we keep your details while we work together and then for up to six years, which covers our tax and accounting obligations. We stop using your training data for coaching when you leave, and you keep your own TrainingPeaks account. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time, and we then stop sending them.
Cookies
This site uses cookies set by Google Analytics (names beginning _ga) and Google Ads (such as _gcl_au). They help us see which pages are useful and whether our adverts work. They are not needed for the site to function. You can block or delete them in your browser settings at any time, and Google offers an opt-out add-on for Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or send it to you or someone else in a portable format. You can also object to us using it, and withdraw any consent you have given at any time. Email info@townshendperformance.com and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
We will update this page if the way we use your information changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
